RE: The Power of Prayer....Harlee and I are asking for yours...

Lance, I am very glad to see that Harlee is at home and doing so well! I would not worry about the ramp it just shows that she still has a lot of spunk! She is very lucky to have such a kind and caring human to take care of her. Keep up the great work, you can tell that she really appreciates all that you have done for her.

RE: will oceanfront parking cause damage?

We have camped on north, central and southern coast of CA for years. That being said we have never noticed any damage. We found the gulf coast much more of a problem.

RE: "Chipper" The Cat

When your ready is the right time...Our pets leave paw prints on our hearts that can never be replaced but it is because of those that passed that we have more love to give. My heart has many a paw print on it but there is always room for more. Congrats on Chipper you did the right thing for you and that is what matters.

RE: Traveling cats

We travel with our 2 in the TT. We tried the crate thing and our calico went nuts clawing, yowling, panting..the whole nine yards. The Maine Coon would sit in the crate and hiss and growl the whole time. We started them out in the TT with a short trip. 1 hour to the CG. All of us were wondering what would we find inside. The calico was asleep on the bed between 2 pillows and the Maine Coon snoozing under the dinette. They seemed very content. This is the way we find them most of the time. Occasionally they meet us at the door. We keep the litter box and water available at all times. This system has worked well for us. They have both been traveling with us since they were about 6 months old and really seem to enjoy the new evironments we have brought them to.

RE: My Cat Chester - Farewell

I am sorry for your loss. You can find peace in the fact that Chester went in his sleep and had a fur friend nearby. 15 years is a long time and your many memories will ease the pain.

RE: hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg

I have been taking 12.5 2 times a day for about 7 years. Gets rid of the excess water and helps lower my BP. If you have edema..you need it.

RE: Camping food for Kids

Way back when our kids were young we would have meals like...chicken noodle soup, english muffin pizza's , spaghetti, fish sticks, quesadillas and grilled cheese. Sometimes we would even make breakfast for dinner...If they eat it at home. They will eat it when you camp.

RE: Butternut Squash

I do it both ways. If I am in a hurry I cut it in half put olive oil, salt, pepper and roast it in the oven cut side up. Other times I peel it, cube it and put it on a roasting pan with olive oil a few garlic cloves some italian seasoning, salt, pepper and stick it in the oven. Both ways a yummy and it works for other winter squashes as well.

RE: Lobo's cause of death

It's wonderful that your vet took the time and trouble to do a thorough necropsy. Most people can't afford it and a lot of vets are reluctant to do them, I think, unless there are legal reasons. While it's a terrible shock to lose a pet suddenly when she appeared to be in perfect health, I think I'd tell myself it was better than suffering through a painful, lingering illness. Glad you have a new baby to share your affection with. Our vet did the procedure free of charge. We all agreed that it was in our other dogs best interest to perform autopsy/necropsy. It has put our mind to rest that it was nothing contagious or poisonous.

Lobo's cause of death

Hello to all.. My family and I want to thank all you so much for all of your kind thoughts regarding the passing of our beloved Lobo. Our wonderful vet of 14 years performed an extensive necropsy on Lobo. He was very fond of Lobo due to the fact that he had wolfdog much like Lobo during his vet school days. He said that all of her internal organs were in his words "grossly healthy". His exam did find that her throat had bruising and their was a small amount of blood in it. With this and other findings it was concluded that Lobo did not have normal coagulation of her blood and it resulted in a blood clot that caused a massive stroke. This is a much shortened version of all the many details the vet went into. This does bring us closure. As the vet assured us that there was no way we could have known that she had this condition. All of us have shed many a tear, but have many a memory. Lobo was gift. Our remaining wolfdog Tahoe has been depressed but is starting to come around..with a little bit more spoiling! In addition, we have blessed our home with a new baby..Welcome Sierra...details to follow..

RE: A sad day for us

Please let us know when you find out what happened. I am hoping you don't have a neighbor who would do something like that. Was Lobo actually a wolf hybrid? Lobo was 1/4 Husky 1/4 Samoyed and 1/2 Arctic Tundra/White Wolf that we rescued from a shelter. She had a many wolf traits, but was great with kids, cats, birds and her soul mate Tahoe. He is having a hard time dealing with her absence. Wolfdogs sometime get a bad rap but just like all breeds it is how they are raised that really makes the difference. We have had 3 wolfdogs and all have been great..some took time to tame. Lobo was a shining star from day one.
